Frequently Asked Questions of the IGA Members Net Tour

The Members Net Tour is another great benefit to all members of the Iowa Golf Association!  Below are few of the most popular questions the IGA has received about this series of events and the appropriate responses.  Call 888-388-4442 or email jason@iowagolf.org with any additional or follow-up questions.  We hope to see you on the course in 2010!

What is the IGA Members Net Tour?

The IGA Members Net Tour is a series of one-day events for all individual member golfers of the IGA. These competitions are Net events utilizing the GHIN® Handicap Service and are collectively referred to as The Members Net Tour.

Who is eligible to play in Members Net Tour events?

All individual members of the IGA with a minimum of 10 scores posted within the last 12 months of the event are eligible to participate?

I think I’m an IGA member but how do I know for sure?  Please define IGA membership?

An individual member of the IGA has an active seven-digit GHIN number issued from an IGA member club.

I’m not a member but want to be, how do I join?

Visit a member club of the IGA and tell them you would like to be a member of the IGA.  A complete Member Club Directory is located at www.iowagolf.org

The staff will enroll you on the GHIN Handicap Roster and you will receive a seven-digit GHIN number to which you will post your scores for Handicap purposes.  Your membership will be active once the staff performs a transmission of records on their GHIN Handicap Software.  You will then be able to post scores at any club using the GHIN service or online at www.iowagolf.org

What are the formats of play used throughout the year?

The Members Net Tour features a mix of Individual Net Stroke Play and Four-Ball Net Stroke Play events in 2010.  Both formats allow for each competitor to play their own ball and the Stableford Scoring Method will be used in 2010.

Can you give me more info on the Stableford Scoring used in 2010?

The scoring in Stableford competitions is made by points awarded in relation to a fixed score at each hole:

Net Double Bogey or Worse.......0 points

     Net Bogey....................................1 point

     Net Par........................................2 points

     Net Birdie.....................................3 points

     Net Eagle....................................4 points

     Net Double Eagle.......................5 points

Net Four Strokes Under Par.......6 points

The Stableford method allows a competitor to pick up their ball and move on to the next hole if their score for the hole is going to be more than a Net Double Bogey.  This scoring method is a fun way to score these events.

Can you describe how the Four-Ball format is played?

Four-Ball is played in two person teams.  Player A and B play their own ball and score the lower Net score on the hole for the team.  The Four-Ball events are a fun alternative format that allows for a golfer to have a “crutch” should they have a bad hole and need to pick up on a hole.

The Four-Ball format sounds fun but I am having trouble finding a partner.  Can you help?

Yes, generally competitors find their own partners, but if you can not find one for an event simply email jason@iowagolf.org and the IGA staff will work to find you a partner.

Can I choose the pairing group in which I play?

Absolutely!  The Members Net Tour accommodates pairing requests.  Simply send an email to jason@iowagolf.org with pairing requests before the entry deadline.

How can I submit an entry?

Entry into a Members Net Tour event is handled like every other event conducted by the IGA.  You can go to www.igamembersnettour.org and sign up with a credit card or print an entry application from the web site and, along with a check for the entry fee, send in via standard mail.

How does an online entry work for team events?

At this time we do not have the capability for two individuals to enter and pay for their half of the entry fee.  One team member must enter the team and put the team entry fee on their credit card.  Both players GHIN numbers must be known to begin the online process as the IGA database recognizes player information by the seven-digit GHIN number.

What are the entry fees?

The 2010 entry fees are as follows:

June 7 at Blue Top Ridge - $70 includes cart

June 8 at Blue Top Ridge - $140 per team includes cart

July 19 at Landsmeer - $90 per team

July 20 at The Ridge GC - $120 per team

August 2 at Mason City CC - $45

               August 30 at Ames G & CC - $45

August 31 at The Harvester - $140 per team includes cart

Sept 26 & 27 at Tournament Club of Iowa - $120 per individual includes 36 hole and cart

*There are no other fees!  No initiation fees; no annual dues.  Just entry fees for the events you play!

What is included in the entry fee?

Each entry fee includes range balls (if host site has practice facility), lunch, 18 holes of golf and prizes.  $15 of every competitor’s entry fee ($30 per team) goes into the gift certificate prize pool.

I’ve submitted an entry, how do I obtain the info I need for the event?

All info for the upcoming event is published the day of the entry deadline.  If you provide an email address with your entry you will receive a Memo to Contestants and Starters List in your inbox along with any other info you need for the event on the day of the entry deadline.  This info is posted at www.igamembersnettour.org as well.

How does the IGA track standings for Player of the Year?  Please explain the POTY Point System.

The Player of the Year is the individual who finishes atop the Player of the Year Point List.  All individuals/teams who return a scorecard will receive points toward the season long cumulative Members Net Tour Point List.  The amount of points is determined by the finish of the individual/team.  View the point chart

As the chart shows, the winner of each event receives 400 points, 2nd place receives 280, 3rd place receives 200 and etc…  Competitors in the Four-Ball events will earn 100% of the points on the list for their finish. For example; Player A and Player B will each earn 400 points for a victory at a one-day event, they do not share the points.

Players accumulate all points earned throughout the year.  Invitations to the MNT Tour Championship on Sept. 26 & 27 at the Tournament Club of Iowa will be distributed based on the Point List Standings after the MNT event at The Harvester on Tuesday, August 31st 2009.

What is the withdrawl and refund policy?

Entry fees will be refunded if the IGA Office is notified on or before the entry deadline of an event.  After the deadline, fees will be refunded on in event of injury or illness.  There is a $10 service charge on all refunds.
