IGA Member Play Days
continue in 2012 |
The Iowa Golf Association will once again be hosting IGA Member Play Days in 2012. The program, started in 2011 with two days, will include three days this year at three premiere member clubs of the IGA. These play days feature no formal competitions and are open exclusively to IGA Members.
The first IGA Member Play Day will be held on Monday, May 21st at The Harvester Golf Club in Rhodes, the second will be Monday, June 4th at Oakwood Country Club in the Quad Cities and the third and final play day will be Monday, September 24th at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines.
Renowned architect Keith Foster designed The Harvester Golf Club. Among its many awards and honors, Golfweek and Golf Digest have ranked The Harvester “#1 Golf Course in Iowa” from 2002-2010 and 2003-2010, respectively. The Harvester has been the site of two IGA Match Play Championships and the 2007 Iowa Amateur.
The current course at Oakwood CC was designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1967. In 1974 Oakwood CC, located in Coal Valley, IL, began hosting the PGA Tour event that is now known as the John Deere Classic. Oakwood hosted this event for 24 years and remains one of the top private clubs in the Quad Cities area.
Glen Oaks was designed by top architect Tom Fazio and upon its inception was nominated by Golf Digest as one of the top new golf courses in the United States. Glen Oaks hosts the Champions Tour Principal Charity Classic each year and also hosted the Iowa Amateur Championship last year.
An IGA Member (anyone who has a membership number through their enrollment in the GHIN Handicap Service at an IGA Member club) can sign up to play by clicking here or can call the IGA office at 515-331-3603.
Golfers are encouraged to bring their own foursome as pairing requests will be honored. We have reserved a block of morning tee times at these great facilities so all play will start from the 1st tee. Just come, have fun and whatever “games” you want to play within your group is totally up to you. The fee varies for each club but all include golf, range balls, cart and lunch. Sign up early because once the tee time block is gone we will not allow any more entries.
As stated earlier, the opportunity to play these prestigious clubs is an exclusive benefit only to IGA members. If you are not already a member, simply sign up for the GHIN Handicap Service at an IGA Member Club (your GHIN number is your membership number). A complete list of member clubs is available under the “Member Clubs” tab at www.iowagolf.org. Sign up opens on March 15th and entry is expected to fill up quickly. |

About
the Members Net Tour |
|
|
The Members Net
Tour is a series of one-day events for both male and female
individual members of the IGA. Not sure if you are a
member? All individuals who have an active GHIN number
from an IGA Member Club are members of the IGA!
This member
service provides an opportunity to play in an IGA conducted
event in a relaxed, fun environment. Entry fees
include green fees, range balls (when available), and
prizes.
Golfers of all
abilities have participated. The IGA encourages all
interested participants to gather a group of golfers and
enter an event today. You can send pairing requests to
jason@iowagolf.org
along with any other questions you may have. |
