Members Net Tour Announces Changes for 2008

The golf season is coming fast and the IGA is excited about the 2008 Members Net Tour!  In 2008 there will be no Open and Senior Divisions.  Now all participants will choose the set of tees with approximate yardage they wish to compete from.  All golfers will compete against each other in one division utilizing the USGA Handicap System. 

The Members Net Tour is open to ALL active IGA Members, both male and female, who have at least 10 scores posted in the past 12 months!  Not sure if you are an IGA member?  If you have an active GHIN number issued at an IGA Member Club then you are a member! 

This year's schedule features several single stops and two back-to-back stops, one in NE Iowa and one in the central part of the state.  The tour kicks off with an individual stroke play event at Copper Creek in Pleasant Hill.  The first back-to-back trip is in NE Iowa at Red Carpet in Waterloo followed the next day at Fox Ridge in Dike. 

We then move to Lake Panorama GC in Panora for the first Four-Ball Stroke Play (2 man best ball) event of the year.  Next the back-to-back Four-Ball Stroke Play events at Legacy GC in Norwalk followed by Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City.

We move back to the individual stroke play format at Hunters Ridge GC in Marion and finish up the regular season with a Four-Ball Stroke Play event on a September Sunday in Atlantic.

Finally, Coldwater Golf Links in Ames will host the Tour Championship, a two-day, 36-hole event that will decide the final standings in the Player of the Year races. 

The IGA is excited about the venues that are on tap for the 2nd year of the Members Net Tour.  We look forward to seeing increased participation and fun, friendly competition on the links.  Call your friends, create your own pairing and don’t miss out on these events that provide golfers of all abilities to compete on an equitable basis using the USGA Handicap System™!

Stevens and Walters Earn Player of the Year Honors

Bob Stevens of Dubuque accumulated the most points in the Open Division of the 2007 IGA Members Net Tour (MNT).  Stevens competed in six of the eight 18-hole events throughout the summer and capped off the season with a win at the Members Net Tour Championship at Briarwood Golf Course in Ankeny.  Duane Rost of Okoboji finished just shy of Stevens on the Open Division point list.  Rost was the "iron man" on the 2007 Members Net Tour as he competed in all eight 18-hole events and the 36-hole Tour Championship at Briarwood.  Since 2005 the IGA has offered a series of Net events to IGA members (golfers with active IGA / GHIN numbers).  Duane has played in 20 of the possible 22 events over the three year span!  

In the Senior Division Steve Walters of Urbandale used a strong 2nd place showing at the Tour Championship to moved up a spot on the point standings and win Player of the Year honors.  Walters played in seven of the nine events on the MNT in 2007 and accumulated one win and three 2nd place finishes along the way.  Rolf Hansen of Boone competed in eight events and finished 2nd on the Senior Division Player of the Year list.
